The avant-garde nature of fashion photography is fuelled by the fact that the market is constantly looking for something new. In this sense, more than in any other genre, there is a demand on the photographer to come up with something to challenge established values. How have fashion photographers responded to this demand, if such a demand exists?
So ... i have been writing an essay for uni, answering the question above. I am looking at photographers that show something exciting and have challenged established values within fashion photography. Guy Bourdin in my opinion is definitely a photographer who has done this and has inspired me and many other photographers. His images have imaginative compositions and rich vivid colours, all produced with camera and lighting techniques - no use of Photoshop like many photographers use these days!
